Shivapuri Nagarkot Chisapani Trekking Overview

Even if you have only a short time in Nepal, there is no reason to not do a trek in Nepal. This Shivapuri Nagarkot Chisapani Tour offers a chance to see some of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites as well as to do a three day trek to see the mountains as well as to enjoy the local culture. Global Axis Travels is proud to be able to offer this incredible trip in and around the Kathmandu Valley. There are seven UNESCO World Heritage Sites to visit, along with so much beauty and history. Shivapuri Nagarkot Chisapani trekking offer incredible views of the snowcapped Himalayas from the top of the lower mountains that completely surround the valley. Rivers criss-cross the Kathmandu Valley where you can see traditional villages and farms. The Shivapuri National Park is located in the Valley and is the closest national park to any capital city in the world. It is just a few kilometers to the north, of which the short trek will take you into parts of it. You will be amazed that such wilderness exists so close to the capital city.


Day to Day Itinerary

DAY 1 – Arrival:
You arrive today at the Tribhuven International Airport in Kathmandu where you will be met by a representative of GA Travels who will escort you to your hotel. Rest or explore the exciting nightlife of Thamel, the center of action in Kathmandu.

DAY 2 – Kathmandu Valley Sightseeing:
It's a full day of touring in the valley as you travel to the UNESCO Historic Sites. There are visits to Hindu holy sites like Pashupatinath, the most holy temple in the valley and a pilgrimage site for Hindus from around the world. There are the ancient Buddhist sites of Boudhanath and Swayambhu as well as the famous Kathmandu Durbar Square. Durbar Square is the tradition home of the kings of Kathmandu and Nepal as well as the home of nearly 60 temples. 

DAY 3 – Day 1 of Trek (2729 m):
The day begins with a drive to Budhanilkantha, the temple of "The Sleeping Vishnu". This temple features a five meter long idol of the Hindu God Vishnu laying on a body of water. The black stone is not native of the Kathmandu Valley, and was carried over the mountains to this place. From here, the trek begins into the Shivapuri National Park with its great views, waterfalls and flora and fauna. We will spend the night in a guest house.

DAY 4 – Trek to Chisapani (elev. 2194 m):
The trek is downhill as we make our way through the Tamang village of Mulkharka. We continue to wind our way through the national park until we reach the village of Chisapani, spending the night in a guest house.

DAY 5 – Chisapani to Nagarkot (elev. 2175 m):
The trek today goes downhill and then up again as we make our way to the village of Nagarkot. The village of Nagarkot is most famous for its incredible views of the mountains. On a clear day, you can even see Mt. Everest. We will spend the night here to watch sunset over the High Himalayas.

DAY 6 :
The activity today is optional. We can either trek to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Changu Narayan or take a bus there. The trek is an easy trek along the ridge with some great views of the Kathamandu Valley. We will observe a great sunrise over the Himalayas, and then enjoy Changu Narayan, which is a traditional Newari village where you will see woodcrafters doing their work as well as the oldest temple in the Kathmandu Valley. It is a great place to visit. From here, we return to Kathmandu.

DAY 7 – Departure:
It is the end of a great tour of the Kathmandu Valley. You haven't seen it all, and before you depart Nepal, be sure to talk to your representative at GA Travels about either extending your trip or a return trip.
