Gokyo (rhymes with Tokyo) Valley is a land of glaciers, deep gorges, mountain streams, traditional villages and more. The Sherpa people farm on terraced land as they have done for centuries. A trek in Gokyo Valley offers great views of not only Mt. Everest, but other 8000+ meter peaks that surround the highest point on Planet Earth.

Day to Day Itinerary

DAY 1 – Kathmandu:
Your journey to Gokyo Valley begins upon your arrival in Kathmandu at Tribhuven International Airport. Once you pass through customs and collect your baggage, you will be greeted by a representative of GA Travels who will take you to your hotel where you will spend the night relaxing or enjoying the night life of the Thamel region of the capital city.

DAY 2 – Kathmandu Valley (elev. 1400 m):
Today is a day of sightseeing as you adjust to Nepal's time zone. The day will feature a tour of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites. There are seven such sites in the Kathmandu Valley which relate to Hinduism and Buddhism. Some of the places visited today will include Kathmandu Durbar Square, Swayambhu, Pashipatinath and more.

DAY 3 – Lukwa/Phakding:
The journey to Gokyo Valley begins today as you take an early morning flight to Lukwa, the gateway to the Everest Region. It's a short flight (20-30 minutes) and then we trek to the village of Phakding (elev. 2610 m).

DAY 4 – Phakding to Namche Bazar (elev. 3440 m):
The trek uphill follows along the beautiful Dudh Koshi River as we enter into Sagarmatha National Park (Sagarmatha is the Nepali name for Mt. Everest.) We trek to the district city of Namche Bazar where we will spend two nights.

DAY 5 – Acclimatization at Namche Bazar:
The high elevation of this part of Nepal requires people to spend a day to avoid altitude sickness. Namche Bazar is a great mountain city. There are no cars here, so the goods are delivered by a constant supply of donkey trains.  There are great restaurants to check out, along with shops and internet cafes.

DAY 6 – Namche Bazar to Dole (elev. 4,110 m):
The trek goes through a pleasant trek through beautiful rhododendron forests until we come to an overlook of the mountains.  Today, we can see the mountains Amadablam, Khangteka, Thamserku, Kurum Khangru and more. We trek to the pleasant little village of Dole.
DAY 7 – Dole to Macchemro (elev. 4410m): Today is a strenuous trek uphill as we make ouir way to the village of Machhermo.

DAY 8 – Maccemro to Gokyo (elev. 4760 m):
Today we reach the Gokyo region. This is another day of uphill climbing, but with reward of great views.

DAY 9 – Acclimatization at Gokyo:
It's a day of exploration as you acclimatize to the high elevation. Today we will trek to Gokyo Ri and see one of the most beautiful view of Mt. Everest and the surrounding mountains.

DAY 10 – Gokyo to Dole (elev. 4,110 m):
We will spend the day exploring the Gokyo Valley and Gokyo Lake before beginning the return trip to Dole.
DAY 11 – Dole to Namche Bazar (elev. 3,440 m): Today is a return to the district city of Namche Bazar. This is a good time to buy any of those Everest souvenirs that you looked at when you passed through Namche Bazar on your way to Gokyo. This way, you don't have so far to carry what you buy.

DAY 12 – Namche Bazar to Lukwa (elev. 2,840 m):
This is the final day of trekking as we make our way to the gateway village of Lukwa where we will spend the night.

DAY 13 – Lukwa to Kathmandu (elev. 1100 m):
It's a return to the capital city of Nepal where you will have time to do some sightseeing on your own. In the evening, enjoy a farewell dinner with your guide and representative of GA Travels. 

DAY 14 – Departure: After breakfast, your representative of Global Axis Travels will escort you to the airport in order to catch your flight to your next destination. Before leaving, be sure to talk to your representative at GA Travels about a return trip to Nepal.
